<p>The right mix of the ultraviolet radiation UV-B and monochromatic light, can boost plants performance- and make a. better production in closed production systems (vertical farms) is the conclusions in new studies in a project lead by Carl-Otto Ottosen, Professor in applied crop physiology, which has been working on physiology and climate management at Department </p>
<p>Using LED of different spectra in vertical farming beyond the standard light is an area that has so far been very little known about – and knowledge from from greenhouses might not be easily transferrable.<br><strong><br>About the speaker:</strong>&nbsp;Carl-Otto Ottosen´s research focus is concerning the photosynthesis of plants subjected to changes in abotic factors including CO2&nbsp;and other environmental factors, using physiological responses on intact plants for building up a knowledge base in the control of climate in commercial greenhouses in order to conserve energy. The current research includes effects of regular or irregular light patterns but also the effects of spectral composition of plant reactions both in terms of photosynthesis and secondary metabolites linked to the circadian rhythms and carbohydrate metabolism.
